“Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space”

“Love is the one thing we’re capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space. Maybe we should trust that, even if we can’t understand it.” — Amelia Brand, Interstellar.

Remember the “Love Is…” bubble gum? So what is it, then — love?
— Being ready to give another person the freedom to be themselves?
— Seeing with the heart what the eye can’t?
— Hating the same things together?
— Holding each other up as you both grow, through empathy and support?
— Delighting in each other’s imperfections?
— Giving without expecting anything back?
— Being honest even where it’s frightening or painful to speak?
— Letting go of the urge to own a person like property?
— Feeling warm just from knowing that the one you love is alive, well, and happy?

For each of us, love is its own set of questions — and, even more so, its own answers. That’s the wonder of it: it resists any single definition, any single measure. And that’s beautiful, isn’t it?

Here’s to love — big and mutual! ❤️
