On Bad Days
Some mornings I wake up already carrying a faint anxiety inside. Then I read my messages, or someone calls — and off it goes… A headache here, something gone sideways there. And, as they say, the day just isn’t my day.
So you start doing things: calling, writing, fixing. But the more effort you put in, the worse the result. By lunchtime there’s this feeling of being drained, as if you’re fighting windmills. The world seems to refuse to notice a single one of your attempts to set things right. Anger creeps in, resentment, and your decisions get “hotter” and more impulsive by the hour. The vicious circle closes.
And not long ago I happened to stumble on a clip from some Indian comedy blogger. He said something close to this:
“If the day’s gone wrong — just surrender. Go home and go to sleep. To hell with it. Tomorrow you’ll try again. Not every bad day can be turned into a good one. Some days are simply beyond saving — there’s no fixing them anymore. When a day is broken for good, it’s the universe telling you something. Hear it. Go home. Save your strength. Tomorrow is a new day. And today — just relax.”
I smiled and saved it to my bookmarks — there’s something to it.
Often the best decision is to retreat for a while. Not to keep beating yourself down, not to force the situation across your knee, not to prove to the world that you’re stronger. Just to take a pause, reboot, refill your emotional reserve and get your cool head back.
Here’s to remembering: not everything has to work out today, but it surely will tomorrow… or some other day! 😎
